Identity theft, also known as identity fraud, can enter into many areas of our lives. It involves any instance where a person uses someone’s identity theftne else’s identification documents or other identifiers in order to impersonate that person for whatever reason. According to the Federal Trade Commission, an estimated 10 million people in the United States become victims of identity theft every year. Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in America. Your Social Security number can often be found on your W-2 and other tax documents, so remember to always protect your Social Security number!
