Negligent Drivers in New Hampshire Face Consequences

Negligence

It is always encouraging to see negligent drivers facing consequences for their actions. Without these consequences, we would likely face a much higher rate of serious accidents. Both criminal and civil consequences help prevent drivers from committing repeated violations on the road – and these penalties may even save lives. How can you ensure that the person who caused your injuries faces consequences? Could an auto accident lawyer in New Hampshire help?

Defendant Indicted for Negligent Homicide After Fatal Crash

Back in July of 2024, a driver from Manchester crossed over a double-yellow line and struck another vehicle in a head-on collision. The incident occurred in Loudon, and it caused numerous, serious injuries. Three people were hospitalized, including two children with life-threatening conditions. While one of these children survived, the other – an eight-year-old girl – eventually succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.

In late March of 2025, the man responsible for this incident was finally indicted on 16 charges. These charges include negligent homicide in connection to the death of the eight-year-old child. In addition, he faces charges of aggravated DUI. While these charges could lead to a long prison sentence, the family may also be able to explore a civil lawsuit against the defendant for the damages caused,

Hampton Woman Charged for Causing Wrong-Way Crash

At around the same time, authorities in Hampton reported that a woman was facing several charges for causing a wrong-way crash. The incident occurred on Route 101, and the 23-year-old faces charges of DUI and reckless conduct with a deadly weapon. Note that, in many cases, a vehicle can be considered a “deadly weapon” under New Hampshire law.

According to the authorities, they first received reports of a car with no lights and deflated tires on the F.E. Everett Turnpike. As they were responding to this call, other witnesses reported seeing a driver heading the wrong way down Route 101. These callers also stated that the vehicle kept hitting guardrails.

When they arrived at the scene, troopers found the defendant’s vehicle stuck on top of a guardrail, facing in the wrong direction. After an investigation, authorities also determined that the driver had struck another vehicle before finally crashing. The defendant suffered minor injuries, and there was no word on whether the driver of the other vehicle was harmed. To say that this situation could have been much worse would be a gross understatement.
