Distracted Driver Allegedly Causes Plow Truck Crash in New Hampshire

DistractedDriving_

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), thousands of people die each year because of distracted driving in the United States. While New Hampshire has a relatively small population compared to other states, it’s safe to say that at least a few of these deaths occurred in our state. A recent car crash in New Hampshire shows how common and dangerous distracted driving can be. If you were injured by a distracted driver, consider speaking with an attorney to learn about potential compensation.

Officials Believe Distracted Driving Caused Plow Truck Accident

In March of 2026, the New Hampshire State Police reported that a plow truck crash in New Hampshire had resulted in two hospitalizations. Officials say that as the plow truck and a second vehicle were heading down Route 16, the driver of the smaller vehicle became distracted and crashed into the back of the plow truck.

The impact resulted in an “underriding” effect, pushing the smaller vehicle underneath the rear of the plow truck and causing it to become wedged in place. The driver of the smaller vehicle was then entrapped, and first responders worked diligently to free him after arriving at the scene. After his arrival at a nearby hospital, medical professionals stated that his injuries were non-life-threatening. The driver of the plow truck also went to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

State Police believe that the rear driver became distracted before the collision. However, the crash is still under investigation, and this is only a preliminary conclusion. If this conclusion is correct, it is easy to imagine how the crash might have happened. The rear driver may have become distracted by their phone, a passenger, food, or something else and their eyes off the road for too long. When they realized that they were approaching the rear of a plow truck, it was probably too late to avoid the collision.

This isn’t the first time a plow truck has been involved in a collision in New Hampshire, and it won’t be the last. Ongoing snowy weather means that these vehicles are a common sight on our roads. In the aforementioned crash, the plow truck driver probably wasn’t at fault. But this is not always the case. Just one month prior, a plow truck reversed out of a driveway in New Hampshire and crashed into a female pedestrian. The impact caused the victim to suffer traumatic injuries to both of her legs.
