Allegedly Intoxicated Driver Causes Head-On Collision in New Hampshire

HeadOnAcc

In May of 2026, multiple sources reported that an allegedly intoxicated driver had caused a head-on collision in New Hampshire. This accident caused a driver to suffer serious injuries. If you were involved in a similar head-on collision and you believe that an intoxicated driver was to blame, a car accident lawyer may be able to help you pursue compensation.

Officials Say Driver Crossed Center Line Twice, Crashing Both Times

On May 7th, 2026, Boston 25 News reported that the driver of a Toyota Minivan crossed the center line on two separate occasions before ultimately getting into a head-on collision and causing severe injuries. The debacle began when the driver crossed the center line on the Spaulding Turnpike and sideswiped another vehicle. He then continued onward, committing a hit-and-run and evading law enforcement.

Minutes later, the driver crossed the center line a second time, veering into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with a Toyota Corolla. A third vehicle approaching the crash scene then impacted the two vehicles, although the driver did not suffer any injuries. The initial impact resulted in serious injuries for both the minivan driver and the Corolla driver, and first responders hospitalized them.

While the driver of the minivan was receiving medical care, officers noticed “signs of impairment.” Because of these observations, officers arrested the man on charges of aggravated DUI, reckless conduct, and other charges. The minivan struck the Corolla with such force that it caused the smaller sedan to flip onto its roof.

Can I Sue After a Head-On Collision in New Hampshire?

If you were injured by a driver who crossed the center line and caused a head-on collision, you can probably file a car accident claim in New Hampshire. The fact that they were intoxicated may help you establish negligence, but proving intoxication may not be necessary. The fact that the driver veered into oncoming traffic should be enough to clearly prove negligence.

One potential issue is that individuals who are this unstable and vulnerable to substance abuse often lack insurance or even valid driver’s licenses. If the driver who struck you was not insured, it may be difficult to pursue compensation. You may need to turn to your own coverage or consider claims against negligent third parties who contributed to your crash. You can discuss these potential options with an experienced car accident attorney in New Hampshire.

Can a New Hampshire Car Accident Lawyer Help Me?

A New Hampshire car accident lawyer may be able to help if you believe that an intoxicated driver caused your head-on collision. Local authorities should be able to quickly determine the intoxication level of the other driver. That being said, a lawyer can also help you gather evidence that may be necessary as you pursue a claim. Contact Manning Zimmerman & Oliveira PLLC at 603-624-7200.
